This Christmas, our wish for you is that your hearts will be open to those who surround you. We wish that you bring new friends into your fold. That your arms open wide to strangers and that they are embraced with kindness.
We wish for a place in this world where all children are loved and cared for. Where each child has warm food, a warm home and a safe place to rest their heads at the end of the day.
We wish for you a compassionate and empathetic heart. A heart that gives without thought of judgement.
We wish for our teachers that they are blessed with parents who stand by them and with students who love them. We wish for our teachers that they can see past the behavior of the troubled student and into their lives and help them have joy.
We wish for our community a gathering of minds. Egos set aside, and a joy in collaboration with each other so great things can happen for all.
We wish for each family, evenings that are for you, just to be a family doing nothing more than laughing together, snuggled in a blanket, making each other laugh.
We wish for bedtime stories and one more kiss goodnight, for both parents and children.
We wish for those living alone or who are elderly that they are remembered at this time of year and everyday after. We wish for success for those who are struggling with harmful substances. We wish for bringing families back together, healthy and happy. We wish for our employers to do the best that they can for their workers and the workers to do the best that they can for their employers.
We wish for warm homes for our furry friends, with masters who love them as part of the family. We wish for our leaders to make compassionate and thoughtful decisions, remembering all who live in our city, county, state and country.
We wish for those who are struggling with depression, anxiety, with mental illness of any kind, a sustained joy in this life that we have. We wish for the love of the newlywed to be restored to those who struggle with their marriage. We wish for respect to be shown for other persons and their rights to their own bodies.
We wish that in all that you do, kindness and love be at the forefront. We wish for you the ability to spend time with your family and not money. We wish that we all find ways to love our planet and nurture and take care of her.
We wish for clergy to embrace the poor, the drug addicted, those who struggle in their lives and to give to them what Christ would give. We wish comfort to those who are missing those who have passed from this life. Our wish is all would remember to love one another as God has loved you.
We wish for you that throughout this season and the coming new year you would remember that forever can be as close as the next hour or as far away as 70 years, and live accordingly. Remembering that great things happen when we dream and work forward but that our life is made up of people.
Our wish is simple: that we live with love and kindness toward ourselves and others.
Merry Christmas from Humanity House.
