An ongoing project for Helen Henderson of the Allen County Historical Society Museum is the Vegetarian Society exhibit. Henderson said the exhibit presents the problem of no artifacts to be collected, so the museum must rely on photographs and written records.

Richard Sears, principal of Jefferson Elementary School, has been granted a year-long leave of absence due to the illness of his wife, Katheryn. Ken McGuffin, McKinley Principal, will be principal of Jefferson for the year and McGuffin will be replaced by Jeannine Fairchild of Chanute.

H.L. Miller and Son is bringing in its sales personnel from over the country to Iola this weekend to show them advances at the plant and juice up their enthusiasm for the products. Don Spencer, national sales manager, said the company has been very successful over the past two years.

Senate President Robert V. Talkington of Iola has endorsed Rep. Denise Apt for state senator. Talkington is retiring from the seat he has held since 1972. He said Dennys excellent qualifications and distinguished record of service in the House of Representatives make her an outstanding candidate. Rep. Apt has served since 1980. She held the top positions in education in that body.

Sheryl Bussell of Iola was elected president of the Southeast Kansas Bar Association at the groups annual meeting Monday at the Allen County Country Club.
