Commissioner Ray Pershall proposed at Tuesday’s meeting that homeowners be allowed to do plumbing and electrical work on their own premises, provided that they have a city permit and have completed work inspected. The proposal will be reviewed by members of the city’s plumbing and electrical boards before commissioners take action. Also under discussion at the commission meeting was the recently approved plumbing code that restricts in-home water lines to copper except for prefabricated homes with plastic lines in place. Commissioners will act on the plastic pipe proposal later.
