Winifred “Winnie” Worley Fail of Chanute, whose death of Friday and funeral services were published in Tuesday’s Register, was born on Oct. 8, 1917, in rural Earlton, to Glenn L. and Laura Mae (Rohwer) Worley. She graduated from Chanute High School in 1935.

On May 2, 1937, she married William “Bill” Fail in Los Angeles, Calif. They made their home in Los Angeles until 1947 when they moved to this area. He died on Aug. 3, 2011.

She was a homemaker. She was also an insurance clerk and punch card operator while living in California.

She was a member of Wilson County Homemakers Unit (Thornburg),  Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, Faith Bible Church and Do-Si-Do Square Dance Club.

She is survived by three daughters, Patricia A. Fail and her husband, Kenneth Sprague, Iola, Janice L. Van Hoozer and her husband, Gary, Buffalo, and Rita Hart, Independence; a son, Gary and his wife, Connie, Chanute; grandchildren, Kiz and Joel Porter, Kip and Summer Van Hoozer, Kevin Olson, Brett and Betsy Olson, Valerie and Jay-Michael Jones, Nicholas and Amber Hart, James Hart and Brandon Fail and Jamie; step-grandchildren, Max Sprague, Joe and Stacey Sprague, Monique and Boyd Litherland, Myla and Joel Ma and their families; great-grandchildren, Kassidy and Kaila Shockley, Warrick and Vera Olson and Whitley and Deacon Jones; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Glenn E. and Leland Jesse Worley,and a sister, LaVera June Lyon.
