Wayne Richard Brown Sr., 68, Iola, died Thursday, May 12, 2016, at his home.

Wayne was born May 7, 1948, in Mason City, Iowa, the son of Theodore Paul and Leona Irene (Fewings) Brown. He grew up in Kansas City, Kan. In 1970, he married Edna Ann Curtis and they had three children before they divorced after 23 years of marriage. He was lead man for J.A. Toban Construction for 18 years in Kansas City. He then had his own business, All Purpose Cleaning Services, for several years. In 1995, he moved to his farm north of Iola. Wayne was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Survivors include his three children, Wayne R. Brown Jr. and Dawn Russell, Fontana, Shari Simpson and husband Lewis, Moran, and Theodore Paul Brown and wife Gina, Westphalia; six siblings, Gerald Brown, Oklahoma, Eugene Brown, California, Leroy Kinney, Drexel, Mo., Marcella Mann, Tonganoxie,  Luella Fhur, Harrisonville, Mo., and Linda Bell, Eldon, Mo.; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four siblings, Paul F. Brown Sr., Kenneth Brown, Margaret Kinney and Deloris Burgess; and a great-grandson, Gage Genoble.

 

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel in Iola, with visitation an hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Colony Cemetery. To leave a condolence, go to www.iolafuneral.com.
