Warren Dale Nettleton, lovingly known to his family as “Papa Warren” passed away on Friday, April 20, 2018, at the age of 92. Warren was born on July 28, 1925, in Victoria, Texas, to Duncken Pittman and Lydia Reissig and was later adopted by William Nettleton after his marriage to Lydia Nettleton. Warren grew up in Iola, with his parents, and two sisters, Eugenia Arnold (Nettleton) and Billie Thompson (Nettleton).

Warren graduated from Iola High School in 1942. He earned a bachelor’s of science in agriculture from Kansas State University in 1952 and later an MBA from UCLA in 1963.

Serving in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954, he graduated first in his class of 201 officers at Fort Benning, Ga., and was honorably discharged as a 1st Lieutenant.

Warren married Gloria Ann Boone in 1952. They first lived in Downey, Calif., later settling in Bakersfield in 1969. They had three children: Steven Curtis Nettleton, Keith Wesley Nettleton, and Reid Bradley Nettleton. Warren and Gloria divorced in 1985. Warren married Eleanor Parker in 1987.

Working for Carnation as a personnel manager and purchasing agent in Los Angeles, he later became the plant manager in Bakersfield, from 1969 to 1979.

Warren acquired his real estate broker’s license in 1980. He owned and managed many apartment complexes over the next 25 years, and also served as president of the Kern County Apartment Association.

Warren received the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) highest adult award of Silver Beaver in 1976. He served as Council president for two years and served as a Scout leader for over 40 years working tirelessly to “Do a Good Turn Daily” to improve the BSA organization in the Kern County community.

Warren had a remarkable life that will be fondly remembered and reflected upon by his children, Steve (Jane), Keith, and Reid; grandchildren, Blake, Nicole, Brice, Brock (Lindsey), Bradley, and Brennan; great-grandchildren, Kayla and Bronx; Sister, Billie Thompson; niece, Diane Ransom; stepchildren; Martin, David, John, Joan and Pattianne. Warren was predeceased by wives, Gloria Nettleton and Eleanor Parker.

Warren was never one to turn down a good game of golf, a chance to go fishing, a big bowl of vanilla ice cream or a loving hug!

A celebration of life service was is Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Hillcrest Memorial, in Bakersfield.
