Wanda Lee Grizzle, 79, of Chanute died Monday, Nov. 29, 2010, at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center in Chanute.

She was born March 19, 1931, on a farm southwest of Iola, to Thomas Henry and Jessie Althea (McMulin) Larkey. The family moved to a farm northeast of LaHarpe. She graduated from LaHarpe High School.

On Nov. 13, 1949, she married Virgil L. Grizzle. They made their home near Odense. In 1964, they moved to Wichita and in 1969 they made their home in Chanute. She was a licensed beautician and operated Wanda’s Beauty Shop until her retirement.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Chanute.

She is survived by her husband of the home; a son, Ernie L. and his wife, Glenna, Chanute; a daughter, Colleen Brownewell and her husband, Claude, Parsons; a brother, Walter Larkey and his wife, Carmen, San Leandro, Calif.; a sister, Leora Foster and her husband, Ernie, Bel Aire; four grandchildren, Thomas Grizzle, Scott Bradburn, Sarah Nordt and Stacia Meek; and three great-granddaughters.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel in Iola.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Chaplain Lloyd W. Houk will officiate. Burial will be in LaHarpe Cemetery.
