Virginia Grace Smith, 84, a longtime resident of Bronson died Saturday, July 30, 2011, at Guest Home Estates in Fort Scott.
She was born Dec. 21, 1926, in Uniontown, to Frank N. and Mary J. Holt Weyant. Virginia graduated from Uniontown High School and attended Pittsburg State University.
On Dec. 7, 1947, she married Roy Edward Smith in Moran. He died on June 5, 2005.
She was a member of Bronson’s United Methodist Church and served as past president of Bronson’s United Methodist Women. Virginia was a member of Bronson’s Order of the Eastern Star and held several offices through the years. She also served as past president and secretary of the OES Culture Club, past secretary of the Bronson’s Public Library and past president of the Bronson’s senior citizens.
Survivors include a daughter, Carol Salmon and her husband, David, Fowler; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Norma L. Wilson, two brothers, Holt Buford and Miles Edwin Weyant, and one sister-in-law, Wilma Weyant.
The Rev. David Schrum will conduct funeral services at 10 a.m. Friday at Bronson’s United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Bronson Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Cheney Witt Bronson Chapel, with Eastern Star services at 7 p.m.
