Virgil W. Ruthrauff, 90, of Moran died Saturday, June 25, 2011, at Wheatlands Health Care Center in Kingman.
He was born July 31, 1920, in Redfield, to Glen and Goldie (Mangold) Ruthrauff. He grew up in the Redfield area. 
On April 9, 1944, he married Myrtle Peterson. She died March 17, 1983. 
He was a lifelong farmer and rancher, living in the Redfield, Uniontown and Moran area. His cattle herd was his passion, he also enjoyed traveling, however his family was the source of his greatest joy. After Myrtle’s death, he married Irene Baker Wright on May 10, 1984. She died July 2, 2007. 
He was a member of the Redfield Paint Creek Church and Moran Presbyterian Church. He served 24 years on the Prairie Rose School and Moran school boards. He also served on the boards of the Co-Op, A.S.C. and Federal Land Bank. He was a member of the Grange, Farm Bureau, American Hereford Association, Federal Home and Farm Loans andMoran Ruritan. 
He is survived by three daughters, Jeanne Bedenbender and her husband, Jerry, Boise, Idaho, Colleen Strong and her husband, Mike, Kingman, and Vickie Welch and her husband, Ray, Alamosa, Colo.; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one sister, June Royston, Fort Scott.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Virgil Jr., and two sisters, Frances Beasley and Wilma Smith.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel, 344 N. Cedar, Moran, Kansas, 66755.  Burial will be in the Moran Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
