Vicky Adams, 62, Welda, died Friday, June 10, 2011, at her home.
She was born Jan. 17, 1949, at Topeka, the daughter of Melvin E. and Betty Jane (Hiestand) Adams. She grew up in Welda, graduating from Welda High School in 1967. Following school she lived in Topeka, then Colorado, Illinois and South Dakota before re-turning to Welda in 1982.
She worked at Midland Brake and then Haldex in Iola for more than 26 years, retiring in 2010 when the plant closed. She enjoyed trips to the casino and Margaritas Restaurant, watching NASCAR and KU basketball. She also liked to cook for her family and will be missed for her pies, potato salad and noodles. Her greatest joy came from her granddaughter Lexy.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Melvin Earl Adams, Jr.
She is survived by her daughter and granddaughter, Samantha and Alexis Overstreet, Garnett; brother, Doug Adams and his wife, Dawn, Scipio; two sisters, Nancy Tush and her husband, Rick, Eureka, and Rebecca Doebele and her husband, Rick, Hanover; sister-in-law, Mary Adams, Garnett; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were this morning at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel, Garnett. Cremation was to follow. She will be buried next to her parents in the Welda Cemetery.
