Verna Darlene Kaplan, 86, Olathe, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2014, at Garden Terrace of Overland Park.
She was born July 1, 1927, in Mildred, daughter of Joseph and Ionia Brown. She graduated from Iola High School. She worked as a legal secretary for many years and ended her career as administrative assistant to the chief justice of the Kansas Supreme Court. Verna greatly enjoyed spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands, Lloyd Springston and Max Kaplan; a daughter, Verna Starkey; and two brothers, Ray and Leo Brown. She is survived by three children, Myrna (Steve) Keplinger, Springfield, Va., Greg (Holly) Springston, Shawnee, and Debra (Tom) Billups, Wimberley, Texas, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
