Vera Mae Terrell, 91, rural LaHarpe, died Sunday, March 1, 2015, at Overland Park Regional Medical Center.
Vera was born May 14, 1923, in rural Lone Elm, the daughter of Arzy H. and Hazel Clair (Beal) Sprague. She grew up in Lone Elm and graduated from high school there.
On Dec. 21, 1947, Vera married Vernon Lee Terrell in Kansas City, Mo. They made their home on a farm in Lone Elm until moving to the Moran area in 1949. Vera worked as a bookkeeper for Talley Chevrolet in Moran and retired as bookkeeper for Dr. Frank Lenski in Iola. Vernon preceded her in death Feb. 14, 1988.
She was a member of B.P.W.
Her four children survive, Penny Priebe and husband Mike, Kenyon, Minn., Marianne McVey and husband Phillip, Elsmore, Allen “Butch” Terrell, LaHarpe, and Howard Terrell and wife Susann, Kearny, Mo.; six siblings, Opal Furr, Cabot, Ark., Harold Sprague, Colony, Blanche Ford, Desert Hot Springs, Calif., Vernon Sprague, Kincaid, Kenneth Sprague, Iola, and Violet Holt, Kincaid; seven grandchildren and five great-grandsons.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, granddaughter Julie McVey and sister Lorene Webster.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Waugh-Yokum and Friskel Chapel in Iola. Burial will follow at Moran Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
