Velma Ensminger, 79, wife of David L. Ensminger, Moran, went to the loving arms of her Father in heaven on Friday, Nov. 14, 2014.
She was born on Sept. 23, 1935, to Dr. and Mrs. Roy A. Siders of Moran. She had four older brothers, all deceased.
Vel worked as a secretary at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, before becoming a legal secretary at Western Insurance Company in Fort Scott.
Dave and Vel were married on Sept. 29, 1957 at First Presbyterian Church in Moran where they were members. They made their home on a family farm northwest of Moran where they spent their lives together. To this union were born four children, Lindi, twins Sherry and Shelly and a son, Brian.
She was a loving wife and mother. She loved dogs and cats, small wild animals, birds and small creatures. Vel was a marvelous cook and a talented musician. She enjoyed playing the piano, organ, clarinet, accordion and violin.
Vel is survived by her husband Dave, daughters Sherry Boultinghouse and husband, Alan, Girard, and Shelly Kuhn and husband, Kim, Chanute; a son Brian and wife, Kimberly, Moran; and grandchildren Trent Boultinghouse, Washington, D.C., Darcy Boultinghouse, Fayetteville, Ark., Kody Kuhn, Chanute, and Megan and Bryce Ensminger, Moran. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Lindi Waldman of Kansas City.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in Vel’s name be made to Allen County Animal Rescue Facility (ACARF), La-Harpe, in care of Feuerborn Family Funeral Home, 334 N. Cedar in Moran, KS 66755.
A private burial will be held at a later date.
