Scott Dale Johnson, 70, was born June 23, 1941, in South Bend, Ind., and died Friday, Oct. 28, 2011, in Tulsa, Okla. The family has friends and relatives in the Iola area.
He was reared and educated in Indiana and graduated from Akron High School in 1959. He spent most of his working life as a mechanic at which he was very accomplished and was inducted into the Automotive Hall of Fame on March 9, 1987, in Midland, Mich., as an ASIA/ASE “World Class” technician. Scott traveled the world, working and teaching. He enjoyed a variety of pastimes including working with wood and listening to music, especially Johnny Cash. He enjoyed racing and was an avid NASCAR fan. His greatest interest was spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Maxine; a son, K. Scott and his wife, Mendel, Seneca, Mo., and their children, Mackensie Rayne, Skye Elizabeth, and Kade Prescott; four other children and their families, Maxine’s children, Deanna Johnson and her husband, Brad, and son, Joel Johnson and Carol Smith and her daughter, Shayla Smith; and “adopted” daughter, Patty.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mowery Funeral Service Chapel, 9110 N. Garnett Rd., in Owasso, Okla.
