Samantha Lynn “Sam” Tressler, 50, of Yates Center, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2020, at her home.

She was born Dec. 20, 1969, in Topeka, the daughter of Grayden and Willena (Holloway) Tressler.

Sam grew up on the family farm near Colony. She loved the farm and helped care for the animals and with the farming. She graduated from Crest High School in 1988 where she was a cheerleader. As a child she was a member of the Northcott Church where she was active in the youth group and enjoyed singing. Following high school she earned an Associate Degree at Allen Community College in Iola.

She became the mother of three beautiful children, Austin, Sharayah, and Zachariah. Her life was centered on her children and family. She was a selfless, loving person who never said anything bad about anyone and had a love for people that was sincere.

After moving to Yates Center she was a member of the Assembly of God Church until it closed.

She leaves her children, Austin Holmquest of Yates Center, Sharayah Johnson and husband Taylor of Wamego, and Zachariah Holmquest (a new airman of the United States Airforce) and wife Caitlyn of Yates Center; her parents, Grayden and Willena Tressler of Yates Center; brothers Doug Tressler (Pam) of Yates Center and Brian Tressler (Michele) of Wichita; and she has her first grandchild (grandson) on the way in March.  Also little Baby Johnson, whom she already adored and loved unconditionally.

Cremation is planned. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Campbell Funeral Home in Yates Center. Inurnment will immediately follow the service at Colony Cemetery in Colony.
