Ruth Feeback Colgin, 92, of rural Colony died Monday, Jan. 24, 2011, at Allen County Hospital.
She was born April 19, 1918, in Allen County, to Roy H. and Hattie (Etherton) Feeback. She graduated from Iola High School and Iola Junior College and received her teacher’s certificate. She taught school for two years in Allen County in the late 1930s. During World War II, she and her brother, Roy Feeback, worked at Boeing Aircraft in Wichita.
On June 13, 1945, she married Harold Colgin at her grandparents’ Allen County home. He died Nov. 10, 1975. The couple farmed in Anderson County near Colony. She continued to live on the farm for 64 years.
She liked to sew and lent her expertise to designing costumes for Colony High School dramas and making bridal gowns for various local girls. She was active for many years in an Extension Homemakers Unit and was a sewing leader with the local 4-H club. She was in Order of the Eastern Star, holding various offices before her demit a few years ago. She was a member of Colony United Methodist Church and until two years ago was secretary of United Methodist Women.
She is survived by her children, Linda and her husband, Larry Richardson, Derby, H.R. II and his wife Sue, Carl Junction, Mo., and Kim and his wife, Sue, Colony; grandchildren, Brad Richardson, Jennifer Parrott, H.R. Colgin III, Leanna Swager, Sara Hudson, Andrew Colgin, Angie Clemmer and Gary Bowen; sisters-in-law, Irene Clark and Delma Nutz; and 16 great-grandchildren.
A brother, Roy E. Feeback, died earlier.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Colony United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Colony Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the church an hour prior to the service.
