Earl “Rusty” Coons, age 87, formerly of Garnett, Kansas, passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at Via Christi Village in Pittsburg, Kansas.
Rusty was born in Torrington, Wyoming, on March 16, 1938, the son of Archie and Bertha (Sharp) Coons. He grew up in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, until joining the Air Force in November 1957. Rusty retired in Garnett in 1998.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Glenda.
Rusty is survived by a daughter, Caralie; and son, LeRoy Coons and wife Su Hong.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be announced later. Memorials are suggested to the Epilepsy Foundation and can be left in the care of the funeral home.
