Rose Marie “Rosie” Stokes, 80, Iola, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2016, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
Rose was born March 10, 1936, in rural Kincaid, the daughter of Cecil George and Alice Evelyn (Nigus) Turner. She grew up in Colony and married Allen R. Stokes on Dec. 24, 1952. They always made their home in Iola. Rose was a homemaker and served as a scout leader while raising her family. She enjoyed traveling, reading, sewing, cross stitch and caring for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Allen preceded her in death Nov. 25, 2012.
She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her son, Dale Stokes and wife Helen, Kathleen, Ga.; three daughters, Debra and husband Dennis Cooper, LaHarpe, Diana and husband Craig Collins, Longview, Wash., and Denise and husband Craig Mentzer, Neosho Falls; two siblings, Bill Beasley and wife Barb, LaHarpe and Edna Green, Desoto; 13 grandchildren, Marc Sonka, Abigail Sonka, James DePriest, Chelsey Cooper, Nathan Mentzer, Miles Mentzer, Amanda Godsey, Lissa Manbeck, Jason Collins, Ryan Collins, Zachary Collins, Jason Reed and Josh Reed; and 11 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, great-grandchild Drake Bunnel and six silbings, Harold, Jack and Larry Turner, Carol VanDam, Ron Beasley and Darlene Kaal.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Dec. 26 at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service in Iola. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Dec. 27 at the funeral home with burial to follow in Highland Cemetery.
