Rose Marie Beckmon Samson, 72, Colony, passed away Saturday, June 3, 2017, at her home.
Rose was the oldest of four children born to Bill Nels Beckmon and Ethel Pearl (Reiter) Beckmon. She was born on Aug. 9, 1944, in rural Colony. She grew up in Anderson County and graduated from Colony High School in May of 1962. In May 1962 she married Billy Don Burcham, and they moved to the Topeka area. There were four children born to their union. They later divorced. Rose married Maurice (Al) Samson on Feb. 1, 1990, moving to Iola and later Colony.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice Samson, infant daughter Tammy Lynn Burcham, and father Bill Beckmon.
She is survived by her mother, Ethel Beckmon, Iola; sister Mary Scovill and husband Bob, Colony; brothers Bill Beckmon and wife, Cindy, Colony, and Randal Beckmon and wife Marsha, Kincaid. Other survivors are her daughter, Susan, and husband Danny Abbott, Galena; son Tom Burcham, Colony, son James Burcham, Galena, stepsons Bob and Dawna Samson and Gary Samson, Topeka; grandchildren Kara Cunningham, Travis and Taylor Brown, Amber Riebel, Caiti and Kelsey Curran, Jacob Burcham, Steve, Trevor and Michael Samson; great-grandchildren, Shay and Trace, Kimree, Taegan and Arianna and Chloe, Kayson, and Alex.
She enjoyed working as a paraprofessional in elementary schools, loving all the children.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service in Iola, with visitation beginning an hour prior. Burial will follow in Colony Cemetery. Contributions in her memory are suggested to Hope Unlimited. Condolences for the family can be left at www.feuerbornfuneral.com.
