Rosalee Larson, 85, a lifelong resident of Humboldt, passed away Monday, Jan. 25, 2016, at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center in Chanute, surrounded by her family.
Rosalee was born Feb. 9, 1930, in Humboldt, the daughter of Walter and Ruby (Wilson) Headley. On June 15, 1947, Rosalee married Lawrence “Bud” Larson at her parent’s home in Humboldt. They always made their home in Humboldt where they raised their five children. Bud preceded her in death Aug. 13, 2006.
Rosalee was a member of First Baptist Church in Humboldt where she taught Sunday School, worked in the nursery, and attended the Mary Martha Circle. She and Bud also sang at many church functions and funerals over the years. Rosalee was an avid KU fan, Royals fan and loved watching basketball and baseball. But most of all she loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were her pride and joy.
Survivors include four of her children; Connie Aikins and husband George, Humboldt, Lonnie Larson and wife Stephanie, Iola, Carol Larson, Humboldt, and Gary Larson and wife Melissa, Neodesha; 17 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and four great-great-frandchildren; a brother, Raymond Headley, El Reno, Okla.; two sisters, Bonnie Umbarger, Chanute, and Zella Falke, Monett, Mo.; and sister-in-law Charlene Headley, Humboldt.
She was preceded in death by her son, Earl Ray Larson, great-grandson Shyler Dodge, parents Walter and Ruby Headley, husband Lawrence “Bud” Larson, brothers Ervin and Gerald Headley, sisters Geneva Headley and Pauline Beaman and sister-in-law Sherlene Headley.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church in Humboldt. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church with burial to follow in Mount Hope Cemetery in Humboldt.
