Richard C. Bruner, 98, of Neosho Falls, passed away on Monday, May 11, 2020 at Allen County Regional Hospital. 

He was born on Oct. 12, 1921 in rural Anderson County near Colony. He was the third of four children born to Fred and Bessie (James) Bruner. By the age of 7, he and his family moved to Neosho Falls where he grew up. He graduated from Le Roy High School in 1940. 

Richard was united in marriage to Violet C. Hays on May 29, 1940. Their union was blessed with four children. Following their marriage, they moved to San Diego, Calif., where he worked in the aircraft industry building war planes. They moved back to rural Neosho Falls in 1943 where he farmed. He later went into the oil business with Howard George, forming the George & Bruner Drilling Co. He continued working in the oil business until his death. 

Richard enjoyed spending time with his family. He especially loved camping and trout fishing at French Creek in Medicine Bow National Forest in Wyoming.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Bessie Bruner; wife, Violet Bruner; three sisters, Helen Brunke, Mary German, and Lois Varvel; and granddaughter, Krista Grogg. 

Richard is survived by his four children, Darwin Bruner and wife, Carolyn, of Oswego, Darlene Robinson and husband, Gary, of Andover, Mike Bruner and wife, Carol, of Neosho Falls, and Linda Garland and husband, Mike, of Le Roy; 13 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. 

A graveside service for Richard will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Cedarvale Cemetery in Neosho Falls. Friends can pay their respects from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Monday at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service in the Chapel. Family will not be present during public services.

Memorials in honor of Richard are suggested to the Neosho Falls Senior Center and may be left with the funeral home. Condolences may be left for the family online at www.feuerbornfuneral.com.
