Raymond George Pollman, 92, of Humboldt died Sunday, June 20, 2010, at Heritage Health Care Center in Chanute.
He was born Dec. 13, 1917, in Butler County near Leon, to Charles and Susie (Singleton) Pollman. He grew up on a farm in Woodson County.
On Jan. 27, 1943, he married Frances Marie Kinney in St. Peter’s Lutheran Church’s parsonage in Humboldt. They made their home in Humboldt where he worked as a heavy equipment operator for Monarch Cement Company for 39 years, retiring in 1983. She died Nov. 20, 2009.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, woodworking and playing cards. He was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Humboldt and the men’s organization in the church.
He is survived by a son, Jerry and his wife, Theresa, Sand Springs, Okla., and a daughter, Margaret Charlene (Peggy) North and her husband, Charles, Darlington, Wis.; a brother, Hugh, Humboldt; four grandchildren, Stephanie Lange and her husband John, Deborah Weaver and her husband Dan, Scott Pollman and his wife Liesel, and Neal Pollman and Lucy Choisnard; four great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Four brothers, Merl, Marvin, James and Carl, died earlier.
Cremation has taken place.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Humboldt. The Rev. David Meier will officiate. Inurnment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Humboldt following the service.
