He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Jeanie, children Gary, David, Kathy Greve, Tammy Marnell, Rick Murphy, Cindy Dismang and Chris Murphy, and siblings, Harlin, Barbara Riffle and Leonard. He will always be remembered for his devotion as a husband. As a father, he was active and caring in the lives of his children and grandchildren. Those who worked with him remember his skill, diligence and friendship.
Ray was first of all a disciple of Jesus Christ. He served the Lord in various capacities as a minister and as a living witness of the new life Jesus gives to those who live by faith. He worked as a physician assistant in southeast Kansas for over twenty years in primary care clinics, emergency rooms and surgery. He also operated a locksmith shop for many years.
He was born in Independence, Missouri on March 18, 1932. His life experience also included service in the United States Navy during the Korean war, building chain-link fences, selling and servicing x-ray equipment. He had a multitude of skills and loved working with his hands and serving others. His life has influenced many people for good over the years. We thank God for his life and the rich flavor of Christ by which his life has enriched those who knew and loved him.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 7, 2011 at the Community of Christ Church in Iola.
