Ramona M. (Marsh) Cox, 81, Lee’s Summit, Mo., died Monday, Feb. 3, 2014. She was born in Sheridan County on Feb. 15, 1932.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Emory Marsh and Mina (Timmons) Marsh; sisters Ruby Maxine Marsh, Sue Standifer, Clara Colgin and Mary Leech; brother Frank “Bud” Marsh; her grandchildren, Rachael Clark and Michael E. Cox Jr.; her daughter Carolyn J. (Cox) Tann, and their father, Walter E. Cox.
Ramona, Mona, Mom, Grandma and “GG,” she was our family’s glue.
Her family moved to Elsmore in 1936, moved to Kansas City/Lee’s Summit area in 1954 and has lived there ever since. She retired from AT&T in 1990. She was a member of the Lee’s Summit Christian Church. She was an avid book reader, novels and history were her favorites and also enjoyed working on jigsaw puzzles, loved collecting miniature pitchers, she adored butterflies and humming birds, crocheting and quilting were some of her hobbies. She volunteered her time at both AT&T Pioneer and John Knox Thrift Stores. She was a dedicated Kansas City Royals fan. She held season tickets for 35 years. Go Royals!!
She loved her family more than words can express. She will be sadly missed by her sons Steven W. Cox, Lee’s Summit, Mo., Michael E. Cox (Glenice), Castle Rock, Colo., and daughter Barbara J. Termes (Bill), Whitewood, S.D.; son-in-law Everett Tann, Kansas City, Mo.; two brothers, Walt Marsh (Jacque), Lakin, Donald Wayne Marsh (Freda), Pineville, Mo.; two sisters, Blanche Rose, Wichita, Barbara Plumb (Ray), Sandy, Ore.; one sister-in-law Shirley Marsh, Cheyenne, Wyo.; nine grandchildren, Starr Cox and her mother Sherrie Cox, Kristi and Angie Cox and their mother Rhonda Cox, Brandy Clark, Becky Everett (Josh), Erin Rathbun, Matthew Rathbun, Bill Termes (Alicia) and Amy Termes (Kevin); 11 great-grandchildren, Nikita, Caleb, Harrison, Amara, Alira, Coty, Jamie, Devin, Kristen, Grace, Elise; two great-great-grandchildren, Edmund and Scarlett and many special family and friends.
Visitation will be at 10 a.m. on March 15 at the Langsford Funeral Home, Lee’s Summit. Memorial services will follow at 11 a.m. Following the service lunch will be served at the Lee’s Summit Christian Church. Burial will be at a later date in Moran Cemetery.
