Phillip Dean Cooper, 94, Chanute, passed to Eternal Life on Monday, Aug. 20, 2018.
Phillip was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.
He was passionate about The Safari Museum, where he was instrumental in its founding in June 1961.
He was an active member of Chanute Chamber of Commerce during his life, as long as health permitted. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Norma (Krone) Cooper, in 2003, and a great-grandson in 2018.
Survivors include a daughter, Sharon Bipes, Topeka; Michael (Jeanne) Cooper, Iola; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Mary Erickson, Chanute; nephews and nieces; and best friend, Dorothy Cartwright, Humboldt.
At Phillips request, cremation has taken place. A private Celebration of Life will take place at his farm, which he loved.
Memorial contributions may be made in his name to Zion Lutheran Church or The Safari Museum.
