Philip L. Weide, 68, Linn Creek, Mo., formerly of Iola who died Saturday, May 12, 2012, was born July 15, 1943, in Iola, the son of Harvey and Florence (Jackson) Weide. He grew up in Iola.

On Aug. 6, 1960, Phil married Patricia “Pat” Hall in Miami, Okla. They made their home in Siloam Springs, Ark., until 1966 when they moved to Iola.

Phil worked for the City of Iola and helped his parents with the family business, Weide Cemetery Inscriptions. He later worked as a lineman for Monarch Cement Company until he and his wife started the D of K Vault Plant in 1980. They sold the plant in 2002 and built RV & Storage of Iola. They sold that business and moved to Linn Creek in 2007 where they owned and operated Ozark Trails RV Park and Storage.

Phil was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, Iola Masonic Lodge, Shrine, Hardly Able Fire Company, Iola Elks and a number of car clubs. He enjoyed Corvettes.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Pat Weide; two sons, Philip Weide Jr., Linn Creek, Mo., and Bryan Weide, Iola; four grandchildren, Charley New and husband Jeremy, Derby, Chanel Colon and husband Kevin, Eudora, and Mackenzie and Nickolas Weide, both of Woonsocket, R.I.; two great-grandchildren, Emma New and Cameron Colon; a brother, Steve Weide and wife Jeannie, Iola; and stepfather Calvin Brodman, Yates Center. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Lori Ann Weide, and twin grandchildren, Hunter and Brady Weide.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Waugh-Yokum and Friskel Chapel in Iola. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Waugh-Yokum and Friskel Chapel. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Memorials for the Down Syndrome Guild of Greater Kansas City may be left at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel.
