Raymond K. “Pete” Ericson, 87, Elsmore, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2017, at Guest Home Estates in Erie.
Pete was the third of three children born to Earl and Agnes (Applequist) Ericson. He was born on Dec. 15, 1929, in Elsmore. He attended school in Elsmore, graduating from Elsmore High School with the class of 1947.
Pete was a lifelong resident of the Elsmore area and a lifelong farmer. He also milked cows for over 30 years. Pete married Shirley Marie Nickell on April 23, 1954, and their union was blessed with four children. Shirley preceded him in death on April 27, 1982. Pete later married Helen (Heilman) Haddan on June 11, 1983, at the Friends Home Lutheran Church, Savonburg.
Pete took up golf at the age of 60 and he loved his time on the golf course. He was a member of the Virginia Masonic Lodge, Savonburg, the Elsmore Ruritan, and a lifelong member of Friends Home Lutheran Church. He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Pete was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Shirley; and a brother, Donald Ericson.
He is survived by his wife Helen of the home; daughter Jill Rhodes and husband Bill, Moran; three sons Kendall Ericson and wife Robyn, Clovis, N.M., David Ericson and wife Carol, Richmond, and Eric Ericson and wife Amber, Bronson; stepdaughter Marilyn Hazen and husband, Ron, Erie; stepson Richard Haddan and wife Susan, Stark; 15 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren; and sister Dorothy Baker, Moran.
Funeral services are at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Friends Home Lutheran Church in Savonburg. The family will greet friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, 344 N. Cedar, Moran.
