Norvell Joe Powell, age 65, of Lawrence, passed away at his home. Joe was born on March 12, 1953, in Iola, to Elmer M. Powell and Louella M. Barnard Powell. Joe attended school in Iola. Joe was known for his artwork, his laughter, and his love of airplanes. Joe is survived by his two best friends, Molly Nelson and Jo Hetrick, both of Lawrence; and his sister-in-law, Donna Powell, Iola; and numerous friends. Joe was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Thomas I. Powell. A graveside service to honor Joes life will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday at Highland Cemetery in Iola.
