Annetta J. “Netta” Reed, 72, of Moran, Kansas, passed away peacefully at her home Sunday, April 6, 2025. She was born Sept. 1, 1952 to Walter J. “Walt” and Iva J. Stotler (Zornes). She was the oldest of five siblings.
She grew up in the Colony area and later graduated from Crest High School, class of 1971. She married her husband, Larry, on March 20, 1981. Netta and Larry moved to their family home in rural Moran in the spring of 2004.
Netta lived most of her life in the southeast Kansas area, spending as much time as she could with her grandchildren and great-grandbabies. Her hobbies included gardening, traveling, watching Days of Our Lives, being a professional and treasured “Gigi,” and swimming in her pool. Some of her other favorite pastimes were gossiping, hiding her candy from both her grandchildren and great-grandchildren (unsuccessfully), and visiting friends. She was not just the life of the party; she was the entire after-party.
Netta was preceded in death by her parents, Walt and Iva; and her sisters, Joyce and Eula (Shuggy). She is survived by her husband, Larry; brother-in-law, Virgil (Kathy) Reed; daughters, Tonya Smith and Nealie (Sam) Spillman; six grandkids, Tori Roberts, Sarah Smith, Chris (Kinsley) Bowman, Brittany (Jasper) Haskin, Luke Spillman, and Joshua Smith; and 10 great-grandkids, Kamdyn, Aidan, Ronan, Brayden, Liam, LAnna, Samuel, Rocky, Koehn, and River.
The family will plan private services for a later date.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society and left in the care of Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, Iola.
