Mary Darlene Meisch, 76, of Iola and formerly of Howard died Monday, Oct. 24, 2011, at Windsor Place in Iola.
She was born on June 18, 1935, in Piedmont, to Wesley I. and Mildred E. (Misner) Norman. Darlene was a graduate of Piedmont High School.
On Dec. 31, 1955, she married Otto E. Meisch at Piedmont Christian Church. She was a homemaker and bookkeeper for the family dirt construction business. She also worked in home health and for the Howard senior center. Darlene was a longtime member of Howard Christian Church and later a member of Piedmont Christian Church, Mother’s Club and American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by a daughter, Pamela Coons and her husband, Vincent, Iola; two sons, Otto E. Jr. and his wife, Rhonda, and Bruce and his wife, Julie, Wichita; a brother, Larry Norman, Howard; a sister, Donna Meisch Johnston, Howard; and seven grandchildren, Meaghan Coons, Mason Coons, Leah Meisch, Kyle Meisch, Luke Meisch, Audrey Meisch and Hayley Meisch.
She was preceded in death by her husband.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Countryside-Zimmerman Funeral Home in Howard with the Rev. Bob Dougherty officiating. Interment will be at South Lawn Cemetery in Severy.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Friday.
