Mary Mildred Haen, 97, of Piqua, passed away on Friday, March 2, 2018, at Greystone Assisted Living in Iola.
Mary was born to Joseph A. Bruggeman and Hattie Rose Wolz Bruggeman on July 23, 1920, at Piqua. Mary and Hubert J. Haen were united in marriage on Nov. 16, 1949, at St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Piqua.
Mary was a nurse in her earlier years at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita. Later she worked at the grocery store in Piqua and at her brother, Raymond’s, confectionary store in Piqua. She was a housewife and helped her husband farm.
Mary was best known for her kindness, love of family and friends, and her service to others. She loved to fish. Mary liked to garden, raise chickens, and can vegetables.
Survivors include numerous nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert, on June 5, 2002, her parents, her brothers, Fr. Louis Bruggeman, Leo Bruggeman, and Raymond Bruggeman.
Visitation and rosary will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, with funeral mass beginning at 10:30 a.m. at St. Martin’s Oratory, Piqua. Burial will follow in St. Martin’s Cemetery.
