Marjorie Alice Wiggans, 103, a former resident of Bronson and more recently of Fort Scott died Monday, Sept. 19, 2011, at the Medicalodge in Fort Scott.
She was born Aug. 23, 1908, in Allen County, to Edward Lawrence Gibson and Anna Olive Long Gibson.
She married Pascal Wiggans on July 25, 1935. He died on Oct. 25, 1990.
She enjoyed quilting, knitting, crocheting and sewing. She was a member of Bronson United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Vera Hays, Fort Scott, and Wanda Woodard and her husband, Claude, Manhattan; a brother, Vergil Gibson, Andover; five grandchildren, Junior Swisher, Osborne, Michael Hays and his wife, Janet, Iola, Marty Hays, El Dorado, Joni Peters and her husband, Blane, Stillwater, Okla., and Lori Hays, Garden City; nine great-grandchildren, Matthew Smith and his wife, Melissa, Blake Hill and his wife, Amber, Brittany Hill, Reagan Hill, Emily Funk and her husband, Dallas, James Hays, Thomas Hays Chelsea Schultze and Jacob Swisher; four great-great-grandchildren, Preston, Payton, Parker and Adrianna; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Cecil Nulph and Nila Nadine Wilson, two brothers, Corwin K. Gibson and Lawrence Gibson, and a son-in-law, Bernard “Bun” Hays.
Chaplain Lloyd Houk will conduct funeral services at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Cheney Witt Chapel in Fort Scott. Burial will follow in the Bronson Cemetery.
