Marjorie Marie Riebel, 83, LaHarpe, died Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at Diversicare of Chanute.

Marjorie was born Nov. 27, 1930, in Piqua, the daughter of John and Mary (Bruggeman) Weber. She grew up on the family farm northeast of Humboldt and attended Humboldt schools.

On Jan. 17, 1949, Marjorie married Earl J. Riebel at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Humboldt. They made their home south of Iola until 1959 when they built their home south of LaHarpe.  Marjorie enjoyed cooking, sewing and being a homemaker and mother.

She was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Iola.

Survivors are her husband of 65 years, Earl Riebe; seven children: Lawrence Riebel and wife, Joy, LaHarpe, Jerry Riebel and wife, Pam, LaHarpe, Joe Riebel and wife, Sherrie, Iola, Christine Ruby and husband, William, LaHarpe, Virginia Utley and husband, Duane, Piqua, Marilyn Wagner and husband, Billy, Iola, and Harold Riebel, Piqua; two sisters, Pauline Riebel, Humboldt, and Eleanor Riebel, Iola; 16 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Leo Weber; and sisters Helena Weber, Theresa Riebel and her twin Margaret Karr.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola. The parish rosary will be recited at 10 a.m., Friday, followed by the celebration of the funeral mass at 10:30 a.m., both at St. John’s Catholic Church in Iola. Burial will be at  St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, Gas.

Memorials may be made to the  Alzheimer’s Association or Harden Hospice. Memorial gifts may be left with the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel of Iola.
