Marjorie Marie Kramer, 92, of rural Iola, died Saturday, Aug. 22, 2015, at Allen County Regional Hospital in Iola.
Marjorie was born March 1, 1923, in Denoya, Okla. She graduated from Yates Center High School and received her registered nurse training at the Fort Scott Mercy Hospital School of Nursing. Marjorie worked at Allen County Hospital for 25 years, from 1953 until 1978. She worked 10 years as the Nursing Supervisor of Obstetrics and Surgery and 15 years as Director of Nursing Services, during which time she visited every hospital patient every day.
In 1945 she married Lawrence A. Kramer and they made their home on a farm west of Iola. He preceded her in death in 1981.
Survivors are her two sons, Steven Kramer, rural Iola, and David Kramer and wife Judy, rural Iola; one daughter, Dr. Suzanne Kramer Walter and husband Ulrich, Würzburg, Germany; two grandsons, Michael Kramer and wife Kelli, rural Piqua, and John Kramer and wife Bridge, rural Piqua; three great-grandchildren, Carly, Henry and Ellie Jo Kramer.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at St. John’s Parish Hall in Iola.
The parish rosary will be recited at 10 a.m. Tuesday, followed by the celebration of mass at 10:30 a.m., both at St. John’s Catholic Church in Iola. Burial will be at St. Martin’s Cemetery in Piqua.
Memorials may be made to Hope Unlimited and they may be left with the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel of Iola.
