Dr. Marita Lenski Scimeca, 86, of Olathe died Tuesday, April 5, 2011, at Evergreen Community of Johnson County in Olathe.
She was born Dec. 28, 1924, in Gas, at St. John’s Hospital to Dr. Frank X. and Mary L. (O’Grady) Lenski Sr.
She graduated from the University of Kansas in 1947 and from the University of Kansas School of Medicine in 1951. She married Dr. Salvatore A. Scimeca D.D.S. in 1948. She practiced medicine in Iola, Kiowa and Atchison. She moved to Olathe three years ago from Iola to make her home.
She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Lenexa and was involved in church activities throughout her life.
She is survived by four sons, Salvatore A. (Tim), Wichita, Vincent, Arcadia, Joseph B., Overland Park, and Frank X., Kansas City, Mo.; a daughter, Karla M. Filo, Shawnee; a sister, Leanna Reidy, Houston, Texas; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Brothers Frank X. Lenski Jr., M.D. and John J. Lenski, a sister, Marlene Lenski, and infant sister, Frances Marie Lenski, died earlier.
Parish Rosary will be recited at 10 a.m. Friday at St. John’s Catholic Church in Iola followed by a Mass at 10:30 a.m. The Rev. Robert B. Wachter will be celebrant. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery in Iola.
