Marion Lee Roeder, 73, of rural Colony died Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2011, at Allen County Hospital in Iola.
He was born April 20, 1937, in Wichita, to Charles and Elizabeth Roeder. At 7, he moved to the home of Kenneth and Anna Heinz northwest of Iola.
He worked for Allen County Road and Bridge Department for 33 years before retiring.
On June 5, 1964, he married June Fulton. They made their home in LaHarpe for 27 years and moved to the Heinz farm in 2002.
He is survived by his wife of the home; two sons, Travis and his companion, Janet Stiffler, Altoona, and Marvin, Winfield; a daughter, Theresa Strunk and her husband, Dan, Iola; eight grandchildren, Craig and Cory Strunk, Nathan Roeder, Amanda and Brian Roeder, Kyle Slaughter and Travis and Jessica Marie Roeder; seven great-grandchildren; three brothers, Paul, John and William, all of Wichita; and two sisters, Melvina McLean, Derby, and Juanita Nulike, Wichita.
Two brothers and one sister died earlier.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel in Iola. Cremation will follow with private family inurnment in Gas City Cemetery at a later date.
