Margaret Ellen Daylong, 79, of Bronson died Tuesday, March 13, 2012, at Moran Manor Nursing Home.

She was born May 6, 1932, in Fort Scott, the daughter of George A. “Jiggs” Reeder and Hattie R. Culver Reeder. She married James R. Daylong on Dec. 15, 1951, in Bentonville, Ark. He preceded her in death on March 28, 2000.

She worked on the family farm, raising vegetables in her large garden. Margaret also worked for the Chicken Shack in Bronson for 16 years. She retired from Fort Scott Mercy Hospital, where she worked for many years in the cafeteria. She cared for many people in their time of need, always putting herself second. In her earlier years she enjoyed singing, dancing, and yodeling. She was a member of Bronson Baptist Church.

She is survived by two sons, Gary Daylong and wife Rhonda, Bronson, and Larry Daylong, Fort Scott; two daughters, Fleeta Collins, Roswell, Ga., and Rita Bailey and husband Gene, Fort Scott; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, John Kevin Daylong, and her parents.

Pastor Michael Miller will conduct funeral services at 10 a.m. Saturday at Bronson Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Bronson Cemetery. 

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Cheney Witt Bronson Chapel. Memorials are suggested to Bronson Baptist Church and may be left in care of Cheney Witt Bronson Chapel, P.O.
