Marcella Eva Wright, 92, Stark, passed away Friday, May 6, 2016, in Iola. Marcella was born on Jan. 28, 1924, in Sioux City, Iowa, to William Ashley and Minnie Mae (Hansen) Durigan.
She was united in marriage to Marion Eugene Wright on Aug. 8, 1943, in Sioux City, Iowa. They later made their home in Stark.
Marcella was a homemaker; she was creative and enjoyed making things for her family. She also enjoyed flowers, cooking, canning, sewing, puzzles, friends, fixing things, reading and quilting. She was a member of the Rainbow Quilting Club. Most of all she was a peacemaker, loving her husband, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Marcella is survived by her husband of 72 years, Marion; three daughters, Rosalie Schulze, Parsons, Janie and husband Joe Morgan, Chanute, and Linda and husband John Vanleeuwen, Walnut; three sons, Robert and wife Karen Wright, Pottsboro, Texas, David and wife Kathy Wright, Chanute, and Howard and wife Stacy Wright, Humboldt; 26 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Minnie and William; her sisters, Marie Durigan, Betty Christensen and Violet Rath, and her brother, Bill Durigan.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at New Life United Brethren Church in Chanute. Visitation will be prior to the service, starting at 10 o’clock.
