Madge Schell

Madge Schell, 84, of Iola died Wednesday, April 4, 2012, at Allen County Hospital in Iola.

Madge was born Feb. 1, 1928, on a farm in Wilson County, the daughter of Floyd and Georgia (Wiltse) Dunaway. She graduated from Chanute High School in 1946, and then from cosmetology school in Emporia. She worked several years as a beautician.

On Oct. 22, 1950, Madge married Joe A. Schell in Chanute. They made their home in Iola. In 1955, they moved to Estes Park, Colo., until returning to Iola in 1964. They owned and operated Schell Dry Cleaners for a number of years. He died on Sept. 5, 1999.

She was a member of St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church in Iola.

She is survived by a daughter, Terri Lyn Ryno and her husband, Barney, Independence; two granddaughters, Natalie Jo Flood and her husband, Glen, and Kimberly Lyn Hart; a great-grandson, Aiden; and four nieces and two nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene Dunaway.

Cremation has taken place.

Memorial graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Highland Cemetery in Iola. The Rev. Jan Chubb will officiate.
