Lynda Maddox, 54, Osawatomie, passed away peacefully Sunday, Jan. 21, 2018, in Olathe. She was born July 11, 1963, in Iola to Harold and Eula (Culbertson) Leslie. She graduated in 1981 from Iola High School, and shortly after lived in Emporia until moving to Osawatomie in 1991. She was united in marriage to Gary Maddox in May 1983.

Lynda lived a full life and loved going to the car races, gardening, and volunteering with dramatic arts productions. As a lifelong animal person, she cared for animals of all shapes and sizes over the years.

She dedicated her life to serving others as a rehabilitation counselor for the State of Kansas for 23 years, served on the state council, and was awarded Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor of the Year. She was inspired to give to others as a rehabilitation counselor by her aunt LaVerne who she grew up alongside.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Gary, infant son Erick, her parents, and her sister, Sharon Carey. She is survived by her three children, Ryan of Wamego, Todd of Olathe and Sarah of Wichita; her brother, Richard Harman of Ocala, Fla., her sister, Jonelle Leslie of Iola, and her beloved dog, Libby.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, Iola. A private burial will take place later. Memorial donations can be made to the Lynda M. Maddox Memorial Fund. Notes for the family can be left at www.feuerbornfuneral.com.
