Mary Lucille Rice, 82, Iola, passed away Thursday, Oct. 13, 2016, at Moran Manor.
Lucy was born July 21, 1934, in Oologah, Okla., the second oldest of seven children born to Oscar Samuel and Mary Ellen (Hamilton) McGill. She graduated from Alluwe High School in 1951.
On July 18, 1952, Lucille married Harold Rice and they made their home on a ranch near Chelsea, Okla. In 1957, they moved to a farm on the Neosho River northwest of Iola. Besides being a farm and ranch wife, Lucy worked as a secretary for Lancer Oil in Piqua from 1981 to 2008. They moved to Iola to live in 2010. Harold preceded her in death, Dec. 12, 2014.
Survivors include her three children, Gary Rice, Austin, Texas, Rick Rice and wife Alfy, rural Iola, and Tanya Beyer and husband Kent, Gridley; two brothers, Robert McGill and wife Jean, Chelsea, and Jerry McGill and wife Glenda, Grove, Okla.; four sisters, Pauline McMahan, Chelsea, Betty Cook, New Braunfels, Texas, Darlene Maggard, Chelsea, and Margaret Noland, Alluwe, Okla.; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Monday at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service in Iola. Inurnment will be in the Chelsea Cemetery in Chelsea at a later date. Memorials are suggested to ACARF (Allen County Animal Rescue Facility) or Alz-heimer’s Association and may be left with the funeral home.
