Lolita H. Johnson, 79, Iola, died Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2014, at the Kansas Heart Hospital in Wichita.
Lolita was born June 16, 1935, in Iola, the daughter of Fon L. and Bessie J. (Hill) Walls. She graduated from Iola High School and Allen County Community College. On Jan. 18, 1956, she married Howard “Larry” Johnson. They made their home in Wichita and Leavenworth before moving to Iola in 1961. She worked in area nursing homes and at Allen County Hospital before becoming a paraprofessional at Lincoln Elementary School, where she worked until retiring. Her husband preceded her in death on March 1, 2001.
Lolita was a member of the Covenant of Faith Christian Center.
Her son, Brent, Iola, survives, as do three daughters, Jada Johnson, Topeka, Gita Johnson, Iola, and Jill Johnson, Fort Worth, Texas; two sisters, Evelina Burch, Iola, and Thelma Lee Shannon, Wichita; 13 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, LaFon Johnson, a daughter, Stacey Tate, a baby sister, Barbara Ann Walls, three brothers, James Walls, Kenneth Walls Sr., and Alfonzo Walls; and a sister, Marybelle Lane.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Covenant of Faith Christian Center in Iola. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery.
