Linda Sue Johnson, 67, Iola, passed away Aug. 25, 2016, in Parker, surrounded by family.
Linda was born May 14, 1949, in Parsons, the daughter of Clarence Edward and Vida Emil (Riley) Gambill. She grew up on farms in the Allen County area and attended school in Iola. Linda worked at Deluxe Cleaners in Iola as a young girl. She then worked at Haldex Brakes for 30-plus years until they closed.
Linda enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Linda hosted the Gambill family reunion for several years and loved to cook and share her recipes with family and friends. Linda was a blessing to all that knew her.
Linda adored her granddaughter Trinity, and Parker was Linda’s second home as she stayed with her daughter’s family for long periods and enjoyed that close family time.
She is survived by daughter Elizabeth S. Hodge and husband Jason, Parker; granddaughter Trinity Archer Hodge, Parker; three brothers, Dewey Gambill and David Gambill, both of Iola, and William Gambill and wife Ilene, Coffeyville; a brother-in-law, Roy Morlan, Wichita; five sisters, Darlene Sparks and husband Bruce, Leavenworth, Patricia Sproul and Peggy Niemeyer, Iola, and Barbara Hembree and husband John, Pratt; and a host of nieces and nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Michael Gambill, and two sisters, Agnes Morlan and Phyllis Gumfory.
A celebration of life service was Aug. 28 at Trinity Methodist Fellowship Hall.
A memorial dinner was in Parker at the home of Jason and Elizabeth Hodge on Saturday.
