Lewis Albert “Bud” Stroh, 87, Humboldt, passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2017, in Chanute. Lewis was born on June 25, 1929, in Humboldt, the son of George Elmer and Leola Lola (Krueger) Stroh. He grew up on a farm and went to school at Onion Creek’ School until the eighth grade and then went to work on the family farm until the Korean War draft. He served two years in the U.S. Army, then continued in the reserves for an additional five years.
On April 30, 1954, Lewis married Frances Fay Page at First Methodist Church in Iola. She precedes him in death.
Lewis was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He enjoyed watching the Kansas City Royals, playing cards, coon hunting, gardening and camping. He especially loved fishing and often took his children with him when they were younger to run trotlines in the river. He was fortunate to have a very close set of friends for his entire life. His family was the most important thing in the world to him.
Lewis is survived by his children, Lee (Lisa) Stroh, Olathe, Connie (Dale) Dalton, Olathe, and Bonnie (Todd) Mintz, Humboldt; a sister, Irene Burton, Olathe; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren
Lewis was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Frances; grandson, Neil Stroh; and lifelong friend, Verna Laver.
A visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at Countryside Funeral Home, Humboldt Chapel. A graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Mount Hope Cemetery in Humboldt.
