Former Kincaid resident Leland Earl Cady, 88, of Sheldon, Mo., died Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011, at Moore-Few Care Center in Nevada, Mo., following a lengthy illness.
He was born June 26, 1923, in Sheldon, to Thomas and Lenora E. Stockdale Cady.
On Aug. 30, 1943, he married Sylvia C. Ambler in Lamar, Mo.
He grew up in Sheldon and at the age of 13 moved to California with his family where he lived for eight years. He then lived and worked in Kansas City, Mo., for 15 years as a manager of Mutual Auto Parking Stations. He then farmed in the Kincaid area for 34 years before moving back to Sheldon in 1998. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Sheldon.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Thomas, Harrisonville, Mo.; eight grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren.
A son, James, a daughter, A.J. Short, a granddaughter, Jamie, and two brothers, Ivan and Jessie, died earlier.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada. The Rev. Lynn Quist will officiate. Interment will be in Sheldon Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home until service time.
