Leah Mae Grennell, 89, Humboldt, passed away Sunday, Sept. 17, 2017, in Overland Park. Leah was born Oct. 9, 1927, in Allen County, the daughter of Roscoe and Ruth (Weatherbie) Wright.
Leah graduated from Humboldt High School in 1945. On April 1, 1946, Leah married Lee Grennell at the Presbyterian Church in Humboldt.
Leah loved to sit on her front porch swing and read and visit with everyone. She enjoyed playing cards and doing her mission work. She also enjoyed going dancing and would go to Altoona on Saturday nights to dance. Leah enjoyed visiting the nursing homes and entertaining all of the residents. She loved to have fun and could always put a smile on your face. Leah was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Humboldt.
Leah is survived by her children, Mike Grady, Stockton, Mo., Judy Goble, Iola, Gail Collins, Thayer, and Carol Larson, Humboldt; her brother, Lee Roy Wright, Cromwell, Ky.; her sister-in-law, Louise Wright; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Leah was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lee; and brother, Farley Wright.
Cremation has been requested.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Senior Center in Humboldt. Burial will take place at a later date. Leah requested “no weeping or wailing, just remember all the fun times we had, the laughs and stories we’ve told. Wear purple, even if it’s just your socks.”
