Laura Kaye Coltrane, 25, of rural Humboldt died Friday, Feb. 18, 2011, in Olathe.
She was born Aug. 19, 1985, in Iola, to Douglas Arthur and Cheryl Ann (South) Coltrane. She grew up on the family farm northeast of Humboldt. In 2003, she graduated from Humboldt High School with a 4.0 grade point average. She continued her education with a science degree from Allen County Community College and completed the radiologic technologist program at Labette Community College.
She had worked as a para professional at Humboldt Middle School and part-time at Anderson County Hospital in Garnett. For the past year, she had been employed by Medics in Kansas City working in the College Park Family Clinics.
She was a member of Humboldt United Methodist Church where she had been active in the youth group growing up. She had also been a member of Full-O-Pep 4-H Club. She was a member of The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. She enjoyed texting and talking on the phone with her friends, listening to music and spending time with her nephew, Cole.
She is survived by her parents, Doug and Cheryl Coltrane, rural Humboldt; a sister, Megan Anderson and her husband, Todd, rural Humboldt; her nephew and niece, Cole and Haylie Anderson; her grandparents, Leonard and Mary South, rural Iola; her aunts and uncle, Carol Wagner, Independence, Mo., Carol Olson and her husband, James, Albuquerque, N.M., JoAnn Clum and her husband, Dwight, Springfield, Mo., and Jerry Coltrane and his wife, Ann, Elmhurst, Ill.; and seven cousins and 18 second cousins.
An infant brother, Andrew Richard Coltrane, and grandparents, Arthur and Evelyn Coltrane, died earlier.
Visitation will be from 6  to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel in Iola.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Humboldt United Methodist Church. The Rev. Debby Dick will officiate. Burial will be in LaHarpe Cemetery.
