Larry Earl Ryherd died peacefully at home in Summerfield, Fla., of pancreatic cancer on Thursday, Aug. 4, 2016, at 8:46 p.m.

He was born Sept. 16, 1940, to Earl E (Bubby) Ryherd and Halcie Johnson Ryherd at the Hood & White Clinic in Garnett.

Larry and Dottie (Harr) Ryherd were married May 5, 1962, in Waynesville, Mo., at the Army Chapel with Major George L. Williams officiating.

Left to mourn are his wife of 54 years; one daughter, Shari Lynnett (Serr), St. Charles, Mo.; and sons Derek “Derk” Ryherd, Summerfield, and Jarad “Jad” (wife Stephanie), St. Charles, Mo.; six grandchildren, Casey (Serr), Tyler, Adam and Lydia, Springfield, Ill., and Drew and Paige, St. Charles; five brothers, M. Wayne, Gary L., J. Dennis, Douglas W. (wife Susan) and Rick; and one sister, Donna Rae Newby.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters-in-law, Natalie Ware Ryherd and Cathy Ryherd, and one nephew, Jason Scott Ryherd.

Larry was a member of the Pilgrim Lutheran Church and lived his faith for all to witness. He retired in 2000 from United Trust Group of whom he was founder and chief executive officer, spending over three decades in the insurance industry.

Larry was a past member of the NALC, Republican Presidential Task Force, Governors’ Prayer Breakfast, Iola Elks Lodge, Allen County Country Club and Sangamon Club. He enjoyed golf, tennis, fishing, hunting and softball, and while living north, snow skiing.

His remains were cremated at the Neptune Society. He and Dottie chose not to have services, but after her death their remains will be mixed and the children may have a memorial then.

 

Larry will be missed by many.
