Larry Lynn Hess, 68, of Nebraska City, Neb., died Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2010, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Nebraska City.
He was born Oct. 26, 1941, in Burlington, the son of Marion Lawrence and Marian June (Cottingham) Hess. He graduated from Le Roy High School and earned a bachelor’s degree from Kansas State Teachers College in Emporia.
On Feb. 14, 1965, he and Linda Lou Glaser were married in Le Roy. He served two years in the U.S. Army. He had lived in Nebraska City for the past 20 years where he was employed by the Nebraska City Public Schools for 15 years. He was a member of the Eagles in Nebraska City and Post No. 194 American Legion in Wellsville.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Hess, Iola; his son, Tom and his wife, Candy, Grand Forks, N.D.; four grandchildren, Megan, Trey and twins Macy and Jordee Hess; his father, Lawrence and stepmother, Leona, Le Roy; two brothers, Ron and his wife, Julie, Emporia, and Steve and his wife, Nancy, Le Roy; and nieces and nephews.
His mother died in 1981 and a son, Brian, died in 2003.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Christian Church in Le Roy. Burial will be in Quisling Cemetery northeast of Le Roy.
Tonight there will be a visitation from 6 to 7 p.m. followed by services at 7 o’clock at Gude Mortuary in Nebraska City.
Jones Funeral Home in Burlington is in charge of local arrangements.
