The family of Robert F. “Bob” Lang of Iola, whose death on Tuesday was reported in Wednesday’s Register, will greet friends on Friday at 9:30 a.m. at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel in Iola before leaving for Highland Cemetery for graveside services at 10:30. Chaplain Lloyd Houk will officiate.

He was born March 2, 1930, in Pilot Grove, Mo., to Walter and Francis (Horst) Lang. He graduated from Pilot Grove High School and served in the U.S. Army military police during the Korean War. Following his honorable discharge from the service, he lived in Kansas City where he worked as a mechanic at a Ford dealership.

On April 24, 1953, he married Lucille M. Caler in Kansas City, Mo.. They made their home in Kansas City until moving to Iola in 1960. He owned and operated Lang Motor Company and later Lanco Distributors. She died on May 14, 2010.

He enjoyed restoring antique cars.

He is survived by his three children, Gary, Iola, Carol Murray and her husband, Brett, Hays, and David and his wife, Marla, Evans, Ga.; a granddaughter, Alyssa Murray, Kansas City, Mo.; two sisters, Geraldine Ashpaugh, Booneville, Mo., and Irene Down, Kansas City; and many nieces and nephews.

A sister, Mildred Kraus, died earlier.
